The Elgar School of Music

Music at the Heart of Worcester

On 29th September 2005, Baroness Thatcher visited the Elgar School - you can read the Worcester News' article about the visit here.

Located in the heart of Worcester, the Elgar School of Music is housed in especially adapted buildings, which provide attractive and well-equipped studios for individual and small ensemble tuition, together with a recital room for performance and group activities.

The School is next to the Huntingdon Hall and together they create an oasis of vibrant artistic life in the middle of Worcester's commercial centre.

Students of all ages can enjoy the very best in musical education, whether as an academic or leisure pursuit. The staff are well-qualified and experienced specialist teachers whose high standards and commitment are reflected in the fine record of successes in external examinations and festivals.

There is a continuous assessment of work and an interaction between teachers, students and parents leading to an enhanced standard of teaching and musical development.

Many students are adults who enjoy instrumental tuition or the chance to join in various courses and events. The School welcomes beginners and those who have not played for some years.

The School holds regular concerts and workshops and each year holds a festival in the early Summer. These provide valuable experience, build confidence and give students the chance to make music together.

Professional services include the engagement of musicians for concerts, public occasions, banquets, weddings etc. There is an accompanying service for examinations, concerts and festivals.

Instruments may be available for hire and the School can normally arrange the purchase of instruments and music.
