Welcome to ESO

ESO Newsletter

The latest edition of the ESO newsletter (August 2009) is now available from the newsletters page.

The ESO Symphony Orchestra

The purpose of the ESO is to 'engage and lift the spirit'. This informs all our activity, whether performing or educating. We are dedicated to live classical music and we feel a particular connection to British music, ancient and modern. We hope you enjoy our website and we hope to meet you at one of our events in the near future.

ESO Concerts in 2009

In addition to our concert programme, the ESO Newsletter gives some details about our current and future plans. The concert diary for 2010 has been drafted and should be available by the end of October.

ESO Youth Orchestra Weekends

The dates and details for our Beginners and Intermediate Orchestra weekends are now available.

ESO in the Community

If people cannot get to ESO then ESO will get to the people! The pilot of our Concerts in Care Homes & Hospices project, which takes live music to people who would not otherwise be able to hear it, took place in 15 residences in Worcestershire in December 2007. These have ben continuing and a report on the latest group of concerts is in the newsletter.

Future Plans

ESO is planning to build on the new bases that we have established during the year in towns such as Ludlow, Shrewsbury and Ledbury to complement our regular concerts in Worcester, Malvern, Pershore and Coventry.

As well as our regular children's orchestra weekends, we are premiereing a new scheme, 'Storytime', aimed at pre-school children in the South Midlands; this is in partnership with the London Mozart Players, who created the original version of it.

We are in discussion with a school in Evesham about a project working with children with special needs.
