We are delighted to announce that the renowned 'cellist Julian Lloyd-Webber has become president of the Elgar School, and will be working with us to promote music education in Worcester.


Groups & Ensembles

The Elgar School has many music groups, catering for all ages and abilities. For further details on any of these groups, please contact the School Office. Please note that stated rehearsal days/times may occasionally change.

All sessions & rehearsals take place in the Lumby Recital Room unless stated otherwise.

Choral

The Elgar Chorale

The Elgar School is the home of the Elgar Chorale of Worcester, a specialist choir of up to 45 voices, renowned at home and abroad for recordings, broadcasts and regular concert work.

Membership is by audition; good sight-reading ability is essential.

Subscription: £40 per year.

Rehearsals: Weekly, Wednesdays 7.30pm - 9.30pm.

Madrigal Group

An opportunity to explore a fascinating repertoire of choral songs from the Elizabethan madrigal toa wide range of European choral songs and motets. Ideal for singers who enjoy working in small ensembles where every voice matters.

Subscription: £5 per session (minimum 6 sessions per term).

Sessions: Weekly, Mondays 7.30pm - 9pm.

Course Leader: Dr. Donald Hunt  OBE.

The Elgar Junior Singers

For keen young singers aged 8 to 15, with an exciting repertoire and regular concert appearances.

Membership is by simple audition; some elementary musical knowledge is required.

Subscription: £8 per term, £4 second child.

Rehearsals: Weekly, Wednesdays 5.45pm - 6.45pm.
